Lack of knowledge by Listed Public Officers and the general public hampers efficiency in implementing the declarations regime in Malawi. The regime is encounters scepticism as many think that it is a witch hunting process, thereby making some listed officers operate with discomfort. Insufficient information on the regime which include existence of the ODPOD, declaring assets liabilities and business interests, who should declare, why they should declare, types of declarations, the role of the general public in the declarations regime and how to complete declaration forms among others have been identified as the main cases of lack of knowledge by listed public officers and the general public. ODPOD through the Public Education Section is undertaking necessary measures to provide information on the declarations regime in Malawi effectively and efficiently.
