ODPOD HAS NEW DIRECTOR

The Office of the Director of Public Officers Declarations (ODPOD) has a new Director. He is Mr. Michael Chiusiwa. Mr. Chiusiwa replaced Mr. Christopher Tukula who was Director for two three year terms since the Directorate was established in 2014.

Just like Mr. Christopher Tukula, Mr. Chiusiwa served as Deputy Director of ODPOD for two three year terms from 2014. In August 2020 he underwent interviews by the Public Appointments Committee of parliament, which is the appointing authority, and was successful.

Mr. Michael Chiusiwa’s appointment is in keeping with Section 7 (2) of the Public Officers (Declaration of Assets, Liabilities and Business Interests) Act of 2013 which states that “The Public Appointments Committee shall call for nominations from the public for appointment to the office of the Director by way of a public advertisement placed by Clerk to the National Assembly, and the successful candidate shall be appointed in accordance with the requirements of this section”.

The Director is responsible for enforcement, regulation and monitoring of declarations, and other related matters in accordance with the Public Officers (Declaration of Assets, Liabilities and Business Interests) Act.
